Queen of Stars
Astrid
Astrid was named for her mother's mother, which was fitting, as everybody says she's just as strange as her grandmum was.
Raised by noble folk, Astrid quickly realized she had no interest in a life of needlework and spent her days with her grandmum, running wild through the countryside, learning the stars and their meanings, how to read the cards and scry the waters.
Astrid's father soon tired of her antics and planned to marry her off to an older Duke with a reputation for cruelty and disappearing wives. Instead of caving to her father's demands, she fled the life of comfort she had always known and lived with her grandmum until her passing, offering sage advice and wisdom to the local villagers.
Local favor turned against Astrid, however, when a string of wives began to leave their abusive husbands after receiving readings from Astrid, culminating in an angry mob burning down her grandmum's home with her inside it. Luckily, Astrid escaped, with nothing but the clothes on her back and her grandmum's treasured tarot deck. She survived traveling the roads as a fortune teller, offering readings in local pubs in exchange for room and board, but always offering her services free of charge to women in need.
It was in one of these pubs that Astrid encountered the Harlot Queens, and she's been traveling with them ever since.

In the "real world," Astrid makes a living as a kindergarten teacher and a single mum to two amazing kiddos. She loves acting, puzzles, and all things Lord of the Rings.
